Garden Explorations

February has been an exciting month of our Exploration Curriculum weeks! This month of garden classes has focused on expanding the student’s science knowledge and how it applies to caring for our plants in the garden.

Our first-grade students learned about the different parts of the plants and how each part helps the plant function and survive. The students then explored the garden, choose a plant to investigate, and did an observational drawing documenting the plants’ specific details and parts.

5th Grade students engaged in soil studies, learning all about soil composition and decomposers. Students had fun collecting and studying soil samples around campus and hunting for decomposers!

Exploring external plant structures, the 4th-grade students made detailed models of garden plants as they learned how different plants adapt to our environment.

Next up we will begin getting ready for spring planting season!
